The 2011 Keswick at Portstewart started with an encouraging opening weekend.
A packed tent on the Sunday evening witnessed around 60 young people commissioned for work with Portstewart CSSM.
Edwin Ewart from the Irish Baptist College preached from 2 Corinthians chapter 3 reminding believers that the Christian and the Christian Church is God’s letter to the world.
With bright sunshine on Monday morning David Johnston minster of Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church Bangor started the bible readings. His subject over the 5 mornings will be taken from Revelation chapters 4 & 5.

In May, the all new Christianity Explored was launched. What are the main changes and why?
The key decision was to re-edit and shorten the course from ten sessions down to seven. Research showed that many users with years of experience in running the course are doing this already. This new shorter course will appear less daunting to potential guests, which should mean that more will agree to participate.
Also, any visual product looks dated after eight years. The Christianity Explored DVD has therefore been completely reshot in an exciting and eye-catching way, although it retains the best script elements from before. Finally, the DVD and the materials for leaders and guests have been completely rebranded under the crisper, clearer, more attractive design pictured above.
Some aspects of the course, however, remain absolutely the same. We continue to introduce people to the real Jesus from the pages of Mark’s gospel and continue to explore who Jesus is, why he came and what it means to follow him today. The end result we trust is a very streamlined and manageable “new” edition.
On Thursday 14 July Craig Dyer the Training Director for Christianity Explored will be leading a seminar on the new version at the 2011 Keswick at Portstewart Convention.
Please see email below received from Derek Thomas on Monday 5 July.
Do please pray for Derek that all will go well and that he will be fit to travel on Friday
Brothers
I’m just letting you know that I’m having some surgery tomorrow (Tuesday) for a hernia that has been steadily getting worse. This is America, the land of no waiting lists and when I inquired Friday (at a point when I was in considerable pain), the doctor simply said – turn up Tuesday morning at 5.30am and we’ll fix it for you; this is the July 4th weekend and everything is closed until then. I think I’d prefer an 18 month waiting list to get used to the idea. I’m told flying Friday is possible so long as I have drugs! I do intend to make it and am simply asking for your prayers at this point. I may need a stool next week however. I’ll keep you informed…
